Book Talk & Swap
Updated August 10, 2017
6 Fridays, from July 14th – August 4. 2:30 – 4:00
This is a drop-in for tweens who like to read, and for those who want to know what to read next. The goal is to create a live, in-person, reader-to-reader recommendation event that will help tweens find something interesting to read throughout the summer, but also be fun.
Each participant will have the chance to talk playfully about a library book they have just read, and say why they do or don’t recommend it to others. Once everyone has had a turn, participants will be able to swap their books with each other’s. There will also be games and snacks, a chance to get to know other tweens, and some time to just hang out in the shade together.
Please note that tweens are welcome to just come and listen to other’s recommendations, even though they might not have a book of their own to talk about or swap.
This program is intended for participants who have just finished grades 4, 5, 6 or 7.
Although space is unlimited, we appreciate knowing in advance how many people to expect.
Registration opens on June 13.
Registration forms are available here or in person at the library.
