Summer Assistant
June 13 to August 20th, 2021
30 hours a week for 10 weeks, $18.70 per hour

GDPL is seeking a creative and responsible leader to help deliver our online summer programs for kids and teens. The assistant will work with the Child & Youth Services Coordinator to help plan, administer and deliver the Summer Reading Program, work on specialized library projects related to youth, increase social media presence and engagement, produce media content and other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be experienced and enjoy working with children and youth. Should be: creative, outgoing, organized, personable, able to collaborate with others and also work well independently, with strong leadership and communication skills. Must be a student, no more than 30 years of age.

Community Outreach Coordinator
Temporary Maternity Leave Placement of 18 + months
Rate of pay: $27.46 / hour

 

GDPL is looking for a temporary Community Outreach Coordinator, who is dynamic, community-focused and has current experience introducing new initiatives that respond to the interests and needs of the community. The COC will build collaborative working relationships with community agencies to promote library services; will provide non library related tech support to patrons, and will develop and deliver programs, services, special events and projects that advance the strategic directions of the library. Due to the pandemic, group programs are currently online via zoom.

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-secondary Diploma, Degree or Certificate in public relations, communications, library & information studies or other related field.
• Excellent public relation skills, tact, resourcefulness, flexibility and the ability to perform independently and as part of a team.
• Development and delivery of creative outreach methods and programming
• Excellent digital literacy and social media skills

Hours and Salary: 16 – 21 hours per week tbd; must be able to work Wednesday evenings and Saturdays; $27.46 per hour

Casual On-Call Circulation Assistant
Rate of pay: $23.31/ hour

Casual on-call circulation staff fill vacation and sick leave for regular staff. Circulation staff are the main contact for library inquires; excellent customer service and computer skills are essential. Main duties include registering library users and maintaining their electronic accounts, assisting users in locating library materials using the online catalogue, checking items in and out, and providing general clerical support.

Qualifications: Minimum Grade 12 completion with some library training or experience. Previous work in a public service environment is an asset. Must be detail oriented and able to handle repetitive lifting tasks (shelving books).
