Summer Reading Club 2021

Summer Reading Club 2021 will involve outdoor and indoor activities planned for each week and LOTS of prizes! Programs will be self-directed but virtual programs will require you to register.  Due to COVID-19 the Gibsons & District Public Library will not be providing in person programming for the Summer Reading Club.

Pick up new handouts each week at the library or check our website for digital downloads. Call ahead for contactless pickup.

Reading Walk

From July through August enjoy an outdoor reading walk on the library grounds. Follow the signs to read a picture book while you enjoy the great outdoors! Registration not required.

 

 

 

Science World: Summer Reading Club Launch – Program FULL – Waitlist only
Saturday June 19th 11:00 – 11:45 am

Kick off the Summer Reading Club with a presentation from Science World! We explore the scientific method of predicting, testing, and observing through a variety of fun demonstrations to untangle  scientific mysteries. Zoom event, registration required.

 

Week 1 : Escape Room

In this program you need to work together to solve a series of puzzles to break out of a virtual escape room. The clock is ticking! Can you make it out in time? Zoom event, registration required.

Meet the Illustrator: Zoe Si
Wednesday July 7,  1:00 – 2:00 pm

Zoe Si is a cartoonist and illustrator and this year’s BC Summer Reading Club artist. Join this workshop to learn more about being an illustrator and some drawing techniques. Have paper and pencils ready. Zoom event, registration required. Recommended for ages 7-14.

Get outside and become a citizen scientist! Pick up your Citizen Scientist booklet at the library or call ahead for contactless pickup. Record your findings and enter to win a prize. Contest deadline: Saturday August 7th.  Registration not required.

August 2nd -7th

Stretch those STEM skills before school starts with a solar bug kit. You can build your very own solar powered bug. While supplies last. Pick up your kit at the library or call ahead for contactless pickup. (Recommended age 7+) Registration not required.

Join magician, inventor and creative consultant Justin (Bro) Gilbert right from your home for an amazing 30 minutes of interactive virtual magic. Please bring a deck of cards, pencil, paper, and a book you love. Zoom event, registration required.
